Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

Implement the pest management plan

  1. Brief stakeholders who have responsibilities in delivering the pest management plan’s objectives
  2. Collect and analyse monitoring information as identified in the plan
  3. Confirm that work health and safety requirements are being followed in line with work instructions
  4. Confirm that food safety, animal welfare and environmental requirements are being followed in line with work instructions
  5. Record any corrective actions required, processes used, and outcomes achieved

Evaluate the effectiveness of the pest management plan

  1. Compare data with objectives and performance activities in the monitoring plan
  2. Identify and examine performance indicators
  3. Compile a report that includes discussion of data analysis results
  4. Make recommendations to modify or eliminate causes of poor performance or to enhance current performance
  5. Update work instructions as required
  6. Report outcomes and recommendations to management in the required format
